Colbert Station is the main station and main train hub in Limerick City, the only one located within the city limits. Located on Parnell Street, County Limerick, the station is a major transportation hub serving approximately 2,500 rail passengers per day across four rail routes. The station is also often referred to as Limerick Station or Colbert Limerick.
Limerick Colbert railway station opened on 28 August 1858, replacing a temporary station that had been in operation since 9 May 1848. The Waterford and Limerick Railway, which built the station, faced significant financial difficulties during its construction due to the Great Famine in Ireland.
